Common item numbers and setup processes roll out - 12/15/09

Suppliers to Hannaford and Sweetbay will begin using different, common U.S. item numbers beginning Jan. 18. Suppliers to Hannaford and Sweetbay stores who have systems or processes that rely on item number data will need to convert the item numbers to match the new Delhaize America item numbers.

Item numbers and set-up processes becoming common across our banners.

All Delhaize America banners are together creating a shared Supply Chain that we call Master Network. This is a transformational undertaking that is significantly changing - and improving - our everyday operations at Bottom Dollar Food, Food Lion Family of Brands (Bloom, Food Lion, Harvey's and Reid's), Hannaford, and Sweetbay.


In support of this work, we're making two important changes over the six weeks beginning Jan. 16:

  1. Converting all Hannaford item numbers to align item data to be common across all of our U.S. operations.
  2. Changing new item set-up forms and processes to improve the way we manage item data accuracy.

New item set-up form coming in early February, 2010

  • We are standardizing our processes for setting up items in our common Delhaize America procurement, warehouse and retail systems. In support of this, we in the process of updating our new item set-up form.
  • More details about how and when to use these forms will be provided by your category partner in early February, at which time you will be requested to purge all old item set-up forms and begin using this new form.
